for gear heads

The guitars on this recording are  a 1960 Fender Stratocaster, a 1961 Gibson Les Paul Junior, a 1993 Gibson SG Les Paul Standard 1961 Reissue, a 1970 Martin D-18, a 1970’s Ovation Preacher 12-String (solid body electric), and a 1981 G&L L1000 bass.

All the guitars were recorded through a 1957 Fender Champ Amp for its natural tube overdrive and tube compression.

The wah is a 1968 Vox Crybaby Wah, and the sustained feedback guitar parts got a boost from a SansAmp PSA-1.

The clean bright sounding single coil in the Strat, the dirty nasty sounding P-90 single coil in the Junior,

the warm and biting Classic Humbuckers in the SG Standard, the full range active electronics in

the 12 string, the fat low end of the Leo Fender designed pickup in the G&L bass, the natural

sound of the acoustic, the occasional keyboard part, and percussion,

provide variety to the guitar dominated sonic landscape.

This variety is enhanced by the Champ’s class A circuit, which outputs a harmonically

rich overdrive from the 50 year old RCA 12AX7, GV6GT, and 5Y3GT tubes.
